         We all know, the library is a working unit in the form of a place to store a collection of library materials arranged in a systematic and can be used by the wearer as a source of information. The purpose of establishing the library is:
• Provide a means or a place to gather multiple sources of information to be collected continuously, and processed.
• As a means or rides for preserve the results of human culture (science, technology and culture) through the activities of the maintenance and preservation of the collection.
• As an agent of change and cultural agents as well as the central of information and source of learning about the past, present, and future. In addition, it can also be a center for research, recreation and other scientific activities.
• The purpose of the establishment the library to create an educated society, accustomed to read, high cultural interest and encourage the creation of long life education.

In general, the library has a function that is:
• The function of storage, storing a collection (information) is not possible because all the collections are accessible to the library.
• The function of information, the library serve to provide various of information to the public.
• The function of of education, the library becomes a place and provide a means for learning both within formal and non-formal.
• The function of recreation, the community can enjoy of cultural recreation with the reading and accessing various of the entertainment resources such as: novel, folklore, poetry, and etc..
• The function of cultural, the library functions to educate and develop an appreciation of the public culture through various the activities, such as exhibitions, performances, book review, storytelling, seminars, and etc.

        The library of SMAN 2 Denpasar has proved to other school library, that our library managed to become "The Best School Library Throughout Bali". With this, the library of SMAN 2 Denpasar will represent the Bali province at national level next. It's very encouraging, and certainly never suspected before. Of course, this is the result of good cooperation between teachers, and students of SMAN 2 Denpasar. The existing facilities in the library of SMAN 2 Denpasar quite complete to support the learning needs of students and teachers, among others : existence of a reference space consisting of a collection of literary books, public works, philosophy, religion, social sciences, languages​​, pure sciences, geography and history, the arts and sport, as well as books about the technology (applied science), in addition it is also provided magazines, newspapers, and the latest books  (display). At the library of SMAN 2 Denpasar  also provides meeting rooms, waiting rooms, equipped with the AC (air conditioner), the tools the creativity of the students of SMAN 2 Denpasar, science the slogans taped to the wall of each room, computers, and many again. Of course, all of these facilities is very influential on reading interest of the students of SMAN 2 Denpasar which is increasing day after day.

        Of course, there are still many shortcomings which we must fix in an effort to continue to increase interest in reading by students of SMAN 2 Denpasar, so as to improve the quality of the students of SMAN 2 Denpasar. Here are the ways which can be done by the school, such: with continue to socialize the importance of the library in our lives which will come, and with give an award for students which diligently come to the library to read, so that the students of SMAN 2 Denpasar become more motivated to read and search for information to the library.
